Shimmering Tides

The cool wind blew over the setting sun,

As I sat over the hills at twilight,

With the universe tonight, I felt one,

While the ocean waves shimmered an ethereal light.

The blue froth startled me,

For the frissons were incandescent within,

The air pushed them exuberant and free,

't was as if the stars had fallen in.

The blue particles collided with the sand,

Scattering them as they provoked a fight,

"You shall meet your cessation here, land!",

They bristled forth in the darkening night.

I sat there and gave a small chuckle,

For I knew the glow was just an agitated microbe,

Disturbed by dolphins, a pod or a couple,

As they surfed in conjunction in their aquatic globe.

A tiny blue in the watery expanse,

That creature was in count just one,

But when one of many bonded for a dance,

Their sublimity together rivaled heaven.

Away from the noise, I sat alone,

Gazing at the firmament that commanded my will,

The secrets of the universe were patiently being shown,

As I admired the welkin and drank in my fill.

The beach below was empty, desolate,

A sandy valley to my elevated mound,

Each particle there had had a fate,

Before it wound up there upon that golden ground.

I heard the silence like an impending death,

As if they had all been severed, my earthly ties,

I could hear the patterns of my rhythmic breath,

As I laid back still and closed my eyes.
